Some maniac did a speed run of Castlevania and, just to keep all things even, decided to rearrange the iconic soundtrack to match. The result, Thrashlevania, is a fast-paced, heavy metal reimagining of the original.

“Some maniac” is actually composer and performer Louie Aronowitz, whose works have been heard at the Tribeca Film Festival and on Nickelodeon, Funny or Die, and College Humor, to name a few. His 15-minute Castlevania speed run may not be the record holder, but it’s still swift, and his recordings of the fan favorite tunes are just as swift.

Aronowitz wanted to create an album that allowed listeners to press “Play” and watch along with a speed run without any switching out. Or, if you’re in for a challenge this Halloween, you could always blast the music and try to finish your run along with the album!

If you’re not in the mood to play, the insane guitar work on tracks like “Vampire SLAYER” and “Circle Pit of Fire” is still an amazing listen on its own. According to Aronowitz, it’s some of the most difficult guitar work he’s ever had to record.

Thrashlevania is available for a notable $6.66 now, just in time for Halloween, via Materia Collective.
